Ukraine's fourth-largest city, with about one million inhabitants. It is located in the eastern part of Ukraine, 391 kilometres southeast of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on the Dnieper River, after which it is named.

Kharkiv is the second-largest city in Ukraine. Located in the northeast of the country, it is the largest city of the historic Slobozhanshchyna region. Kharkiv was founded in 1654, and after humble beginnings as a small fortress, it grew to be a major centre of Ukrainian industry. Kharkiv was the first capital of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, from December 1919 to January 1934, after which the capital relocated to Kyiv. Presently, Kharkiv is a major cultural, scientific, educational, transport and industrial centre of Ukraine, with numerous museums, theatres and libraries, including the Annunciation and Dormition Cathedrals, the Derzhprom building in Freedom Square, and the National University of Kharkiv. Kharkiv was a host city for UEFA Euro 2012.

Kyiv is the capital and most populous city of Ukraine. It is in north-central Ukraine along the Dnieper River. Kyiv is the seventh-most populous city in Europe. Kyiv is an important industrial, scientific, educational and cultural center of Eastern Europe. It is home to many high-tech industries, higher education institutions, and historical landmarks.

Lviv is the largest city in western Ukraine and the seventh-largest city in the country overall. Lviv is one of the main cultural centres of Ukraine.

Odessa is the third most populous city of Ukraine and a major tourism center, seaport and transport hub located on the northwestern shore of the Black Sea. It is a multiethnic cultural center. Odessa is sometimes called the "pearl of the Black Sea", the "South Capital" and "Southern Palmyra".

Rivne is a historic city in western Ukraine. Rivne is an important transportation hub, with the international airport.

Sevastopol is a port city on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula. A city located in the southwest of the Crimean peninsula, on the coast of numerous bays of the Black Sea. All three ranges of the Crimean Mountains originate in the territory of the region.

Sievierodonetsk is a city in the Luhansk Oblast of Ukraine. Sievierodonetsk has the status of a city of regional significance, It is located nearby the Seversky Donets River.

Sumy is a city in northeastern Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Sumy Oblast. The city is situated on the banks of the Psel River. The city of Sumy was founded in the 1650s by Cossacks within the historical region of Sloboda Ukraine.

Ternopil is a city in western Ukraine, located on the banks of the Seret. Ternopil is one of the major cities of Western Ukraine and the historical regions of Galicia and Podolia. The city was founded in 1540.

Vinnytsia is a city in western Ukraine, located on the banks of the Southern Bug. It serves as the administrative center of Vinnytsia Oblast. It is the largest city in the historic region of Podillia. The city's roots date back to the Middle Ages. It was under Lithuanian and Polish control for centuries. From 1653 to 1667, Vinnytsia was a regimental city of the Hetman state, and in 1793, it was ceded to the Russian Empire. During the 1930s and early 1940s, the city was the site of massacres, first during Stalin's purges and then during the Holocaust in Ukraine and the Nazi occupation. A Cold War–era airbase was located near the city. Currently, Vinnytsia is developing as one of the most comfortable cities for life in independent Ukraine.
